MEDISEP Cashless Treatment — Quick Guide for Thrissur

Before admission, confirm that the hospital is MEDISEP empanelled for your required specialty and that your procedure is cashless-eligible. Use the official portal or the hospital Insurance/TPA desk to verify the hospital code, specialty availability, pre-authorization turnaround time, and room/bed category.

How to Use MEDISEP Cashless at a Network Hospital

  1. Carry documents: MEDISEP card/beneficiary ID, Aadhaar, employee/pensioner ID, recent prescriptions, and basic lab reports.
  2. Register at the TPA desk: Provide MEDISEP details; fill the cashless request form.
  3. Pre-authorization: Hospital sends diagnosis, treatment plan and estimated cost to insurer/TPA for approval.
  4. Approval note/SMS: On approval, an authorization number is generated and the case proceeds as cashless (as per package terms).
  5. Discharge & billing: Approved items are settled directly between insurer and hospital; non-payables (if any) are paid by the patient.

What to Confirm with the Hospital (Thrissur)

  • Specialties covered: Cardiology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynaecology, Oncology, etc. under MEDISEP empanelment.
  • Package vs Non-package: Whether your procedure is billed as a package (fixed rate) or itemised; clarify inclusions.
  • Room entitlement: Bed category permitted under your plan and any upgrade charges.
  • Exclusions & co-pay: Ask for a list of non-payables (consumables, disposables, personal items).
  • Emergency protocol: For emergencies, admission first; pre-auth immediately after stabilization.

Documents Needed (Cashless & Reimbursement)

  • MEDISEP card/beneficiary ID, Aadhaar, employee/pensioner ID
  • Doctor’s prescription and investigation reports
  • Discharge summary, itemised bills, receipts (reimbursement), cancelled cheque/bank proof (reimbursement)

  • Non-payables included in claim without justification
  • Late submission of reimbursement forms/documents
  • Name/ID mismatch between hospital records and MEDISEP ID

Cashless vs Reimbursement — Quick Comparison

Point Cashless (Network Hospital) Reimbursement (If Cashless Not Used)

Use the official MEDISEP hospital search or contact the hospital’s Insurance/TPA desk to confirm their empanelment code and covered specialties.

What if the hospital denies cashless?

Request the reason in writing. If pre-auth was incomplete, ask the hospital to re-submit. Otherwise, proceed with reimbursement as per policy.
